Top Rake

SHW Top Rake System

Top rake systems can be used for the reception area of bulk materials delivered externally in your plant. Bulk material can be brought in the further storage or transport process.

The equipment can also be used for the discharge of bulk materials from different types of silos.

Technical Data

  • Silos of diameters of 4 – 9 m with a storage volume of up to 1.000 m³.
  • Low drive power for the spikes, as only loose material will be moved.
  • Low drive power for winch and rotation of the spikes unit, as the speeds are low.
  • By the cost-effective cylindrical silo geometry storage capacities of up to 1.000 m³ are possible with low investment costs.
  • With up to three spikes per unit a max. 300 m³/h can be discharged with a high of accuracy.

Design Characteristics

The top rake system is a recently developed discharge system for OSB strands and other bulk materials with directional particles.

The SHW top rake system has important advantages over conventional systems:

  • Low bulk material breakdown
  • Low maintenance costs
  • Large silo volumes
  • Low capital investment

The strands lying loosely on the top will be separated by rotating spikes from the bulk material surface and transported to the silo centre.

The spikes slowly flatten the whole of the silo cross section and are lowed by a winch. In the centre there is a telescopic tube which takes the strands from the spikes. The strands then fall through the telescopic tube onto the transport unit. Regular filling will be achieved by a rotating chute arranged in the centre of the Silo roof.
